The four of us took a day trip to some vineyards in the Shenandoah Valley yesterday. They were all places we had been to before so we knew we liked them and that they were kid friendly. Yes, before you question why we take our kids wine tasting, Eva has been before and loves it. Plenty of room to run around and lots of wine dogs to pet. Jack is two months old, he has no clue where he is anyway. Our first stop was Marterella which is great because there's a beautiful shaded outdoor space to drink wine and eat a pizza they make in their wood-burning oven right in front of you. Eva enjoyed the pizza so much she shared it with one of the 5 resident dogs they have running around at all times. After the dog was done eating she took her napkin and wiped his mouth for him. Hilarious. We even got a picture
Then we went to Mediterranean (right across the street) where the kids can see horses in the distance but unfortunately, their dog died. They have excellent wine though. Lastly, we went to our personal favorite, the Grey Ghost winery. Jared and I love this place. They have good wine and the grounds and main house is just beautiful. We would love to run a small vineyard like that one day in the Shenandoah once we retire. Above the entrance to where they process the wine there is a real deer head high on the wall. Eva saw it and asked "How did he get up there?" She seemed very concerned. "He must have jumped!" Jared came back with (apparently he didn't want to explain what a taxidermist is and open up the Lion KIng "Circle of Life" conversation...). The whole time we were wine tasting she kept running over to see the deer, fascinated.
