Eva's Obsession

There once was a time when someone said "Phone's ringing" that I immediately thought "Phone is ringing, oh my God..." the lyrics from that Beastie Boys song Ill Communication that came out when I was like 16. You know what I'm talking about, you probably did that too. However, now the lyrics to the Wonder Pets theme song enters my head "The phone, the phone is ringing..." If you have small kids I'm sure you know about this show. I would attach the song but I don't want to poison others, look it up on utube if you're really that curious. It's hilarious. Eva wants to watch this show 24/7 and she has 3 DVDs with 15 episodes on them to help her do this. We have a portable DVD player that Eva has on her play table so we can watch the news while she watches Eva shows. It has the Wonder Pets on it almost constantly as per her request. Her favorite character is Ming Ming, the duckling who's voice is a 9 year-old Asian girl's with a bad lisp. Actually, the girl has apparently lost her lisp now that she's older but the producers have her fake it for the show still. Don't even ask me why I know that. For Eva's birthday we got her a Ming Ming doll that she sleeps with. She also calls Ming Ming on my work cell phone (only that particular phone) and has pretend conversations with her about rescuing animals and Ming Ming being stuck on the roof. Yesterday, she informed Jared that Ming Ming was her best friend. We were both hurt she didn't name one of us as her best friend... or the little boy across the street who technically IS her best friend. Anyway, I'm going to have to buy her a Backyardigans DVD and see if she'll watch that more often before I lose my mind to the Wonder Pets. The big thing they teach on that show is teamwork and I will say, Eva has learned a thing or two about that. We were in Target last week and she started pushing Jack's stroller with me and singing the WP song "What's gonna work, teeeeamwork!" Here is a picture of Eva in her official Wonder Pets cape (green like Ming Ming's) that she likes to fly around the house in.
